The Cruise Ship Industry: Recession-Proof

On my recent trip to England where we met one of our clients, P&O Cruises aka P&O UK, aka the oldest cruise line in the world, not to be mistaken with P&O Australia its sister company down under, I brought along some interesting reading material: portions of 2010 annual report for Carnival Corporation & PLC, their consolidated statements of income.  Because Carnival Corp. is a public company, their financial statements are available to the general public and you can find the latest here:

I am not a financial analyst, but I find this yearly report to be a trove of information on the state of the industry and without being an expert, I believe some conclusions can be drawn from those numbers.   Read the rest of this entry »

Synergy Down Under

You’ve gotta listen to ‘That old black magic’!

Synergy is what happens on a P&O Australia ship when the cocktail pianist leads and rocks the band sending piano bar entertainer Norman Levene into a front man vocalist  onboard the MV Pacific Pearl in February 2011.
